FIFA Finally Backs Down, Publishes Reduced Ticket Prices for the 2026 World Cup After Strong Reactions

The International Federation of Football (FIFA) has responded to criticism over the high ticket prices for the 2026 World Cup by introducing a low-cost category.

FIFA has now presented new ticket price categories starting at $60, which will be available for purchase for all 104 matches, including the final.

This price will be fixed for all matches throughout the tournament, including the final, and will apply to approximately 2 percent of all tickets for the 2026 World Cup. Tickets from the newly created price category, called the “fan tier,” will be allocated to national federations for the individual matches in which their teams will play.

These federations are expected to make the tickets available to “loyal fans who are closely connected to their national teams,” according to the official statement.

This move comes after fans were shocked and angered by prices ranging from $120 to $265 for group-stage matches, while tickets for the final — scheduled to be played on July 19 in East Rutherford, New Jersey — are priced between $4,185 and $8,680.
