When asked whether he is targeting Robert Lewandowski’s record from the 2020/21 season, the English striker replied briefly: “Of course. I just need to keep doing what I’m doing.”
Kane converted another penalty on Saturday, equaling Paul Breitner’s record from the 1980/81 season with 10 successfully converted penalties in a single Bundesliga campaign.
Across all competitions this season, the 32-year-old has already scored 45 goals in just 37 appearances for Bayern, registering the most prolific season of his career.
“There are still a lot of games to be played,” Kane said regarding the record race with 10 matches remaining. “I need to stay consistent during this period. We’ll see at the end of April, beginning of May, if it’s possible. But for now, I just have to keep playing my game.”
Recently, Kane also surpassed the milestone of 500 career goals for club and country.

As for the current record, Lewandowski broke the legendary Gerd Müller’s record from the 1971/72 season by scoring in the final minute of the last match in May 2021. At the same stage of that record-breaking season, the Polish striker had one more goal than Kane, with 31 goals in 24 matches.
However, Kane does not believe the Bundesliga title race is over, despite Bayern holding an 11-point lead over Dortmund.
“We had an 11-point lead a few weeks ago and saw how quickly everything can change within two results. We need to stay focused,” he concluded.
