Bayern Munich forward Lennart Karl gave a more cautious statement ahead of the clash with Real Madrid in the Champions League, after previously causing strong reactions among Bavarian fans by admitting that he wouldn’t mind playing one day for the Spanish club.
His earlier statement had caused dissatisfaction among a portion of Bayern Munich supporters, with the 18-year-old quickly realizing the strong reaction that followed.
When asked about the upcoming match against Real Madrid, Karl chose a more measured tone.
“Very much, of course. It’s a wonderful stadium. I’m just really eager to play against them,” he told Sky Germany journalist Kerry Hau.
This time, the young talent did not fall into the “trap” of questions that could have reignited controversy, avoiding any statement that might spark debate again.
Meanwhile, Real Madrid and Bayern Munich will face off in the Champions League quarterfinals, with the Bavarians considered favorites thanks to their fantastic current form.
