La Liga giants Real Madrid have further extended their lead at the top of the list of the most productive clubs in terms of winning penalties in Europe.
This also came thanks to two more penalties won on Saturday evening.
Real Madrid returned to action by hosting Real Sociedad in the Spanish capital for a league encounter. At the end of the 90 minutes, the team coached by Álvaro Arbeloa recorded a convincing 4–1 victory, once again overtaking Barcelona at the top of the La Liga table.
During the match, the hosts were aided by two more decisions from the penalty spot.
Vinícius Júnior won both penalties during the 90 minutes and successfully converted them himself. With these two goals, Real Madrid took their total number of penalties won this season in the league to 13.
This is a record that leaves them four penalties ahead of any other club in Europe’s top five leagues, with German champions Bayern Munich ranked second with nine such penalties.
