Luis Enrique ‘Responds’ to Manchester United Interest

Numerous reports have indicated where Luis Enrique could be coaching next season, amid reported interest from Manchester United.

Enrique, who is widely regarded as one of the best coaches in Europe after winning the Champions League with Barcelona in 2015 and with Paris Saint-Germain in 2025, has long been linked with a move to the Premier League.

The Spaniard has been mentioned as a possible successor to Michael Carrick, with the current United manager under contract until the end of the 2025/26 season, despite his arrival coinciding with an improvement in form for the 20-time English champions.

As for Enrique, it was always going to be difficult to repeat a treble-winning season, after the Paris club won Ligue 1, the Coupe de France, and the Champions League last season.

This season, although PSG remain a strong team, their form has dipped slightly, with Lens currently just one point behind them in the French top flight.

So, could a change of environment tempt Enrique?

According to a report by The i Paper, sources in Paris are convinced that the Spaniard will sign a new contract with PSG. His current deal runs until 2027, and the club’s leadership fully supports his long-term project.

The report also adds that Enrique is high on the list of candidates for the United job, but Carrick remains the favorite for now.

United CEO Omar Berrada and sporting director Jason Wilcox continue to admire Enrique, while INEOS sees Carrick as a better fit.

However, Enrique is also keeping an eye on the blue side of Manchester to see how Pep Guardiola’s future develops, with the Manchester City manager out of contract in 2027.

The two previously played together at Barcelona and share a close relationship.

Enrique’s ability to speak English could be a major advantage, as the coach has previously stated that he would like to manage in England.

Speaking to Cadena SER in 2023, he said: “I mainly follow the Premier League because I would like to go to England to work. I wouldn’t go to just any team, but only to one that can achieve great things, which greatly limits the number. I don’t have high hopes, because there are many candidates.”
