Barcelona midfielder Dani Olmo has said that comparing young talent Lamine Yamal to legend Lionel Messi is unfair, stressing that the young Spaniard should follow his own path.
Yamal emerged from the famous La Masia academy, just like Messi, which has sparked numerous comparisons. However, Olmo has insisted that such comparisons are not fair. “Lamine has his own path and he knows that very well. Comparing any player to Messi is madness,” Olmo said.
Yamal scored a spectacular overhead kick in the 3–0 victory over Real Oviedo, helping Barcelona move to the top of La Liga.
The 18-year-old made his first-team debut at just 15 years of age and has broken several records, including becoming the youngest goalscorer in La Liga.
