Real Madrid forward Rodrygo has revealed that the biggest regret of his career is never having had the opportunity to play on the same team as his idol, Cristiano Ronaldo.
The 25-year-old Brazilian reflected on his journey and the dream that never came true.
“I wanted to play with Cristiano Ronaldo, but it didn’t happen.”
“It’s a shame because he is my role model. I have always admired him.”
Ronaldo left Real Madrid for Juventus in the summer of 2018 after nine trophy-filled years, during which he became the club’s all-time top scorer and won four Champions League titles.
Rodrygo’s transfer from Santos was agreed in June 2018 — just one month before Ronaldo’s departure — but due to age-related pre-contract regulations, the Brazilian talent was unable to join the Madrid side immediately.
He officially transferred to Real Madrid in the summer of 2019, thus missing the chance to share the pitch with his idol.
