Real Madrid have confirmed that Rodrygo will be sidelined for a period of time after suffering an injury to his right thigh.
The Brazilian forward did not train on Friday after picking up the injury on Thursday, and his name has been added to the list of absentees for the trip to Valencia.
“Los Blancos” released a statement on Friday evening, following reports that Rodrygo was a doubt for the match at the Mestalla, thereby confirming the injury.
According to Cadena Cope, the injury will keep Rodrygo out of action for around 10 days.
This means he will miss Sunday night’s match against Valencia and is doubtful for next weekend’s clash with Real Sociedad. In theory, he would be available to play against Benfica in Lisbon, but he is suspended for that match. The main objective is for him to be fit to face Osasuna at El Sadar in just over two weeks.
This adds to Álvaro Arbeloa’s headaches as they prepare for the match against Carlos Corberán’s side. Rodrygo was expected to start on the left wing of the attack in place of Vinícius Júnior, who is suspended.
Jude Bellingham is also recovering from a thigh injury, meaning Real Madrid will be without three of their attacking stars.
