Paris Saint-Germain has officially begun talks to extend Luis Enrique’s contract, with the possibility that the Spanish coach could remain at the club until 2030.
The 55-year-old, who has been in charge of the team for around two and a half years, has become the central figure of PSG’s sporting project, enjoying full control over football-related decisions.
The Parisian club aims to finalize the new agreement before the end of the season, in order to prevent Enrique from being exposed to interest from other clubs, such as Real Madrid and especially from England, where he continues to be highly regarded. Sources indicate that the negotiations are progressing calmly and according to plan, with PSG confident that an agreement will be reached.
Enrique has also publicly expressed his desire to remain in Paris for a long period.
“I hope to stay for 10 years, but realistically it’s very difficult to stay that long at a top-level club. This is a completely different project. I feel very good here, very comfortable. It would be fantastic if my adventure here lasted ten years,” he said in January 2025.
If the contract extension is completed, Enrique would become the first PSG coach to remain in charge for more than three seasons. He could also break Laurent Blanc’s record of 173 matches under the current ownership as early as this season.
