Barcelona have had a relatively limited squad in terms of numbers in recent seasons, but one of the positions where they have plenty of options is the “number 10” role.
Several players are capable of playing in this position; however, Dani Olmo and Fermín López have mainly been competing for minutes over the last two seasons.
Olmo arrived as an expensive signing in 2024, but López has proven to be more consistent and impressive during this period, earning the trust of coach Hansi Flick as a regular starter. The young midfielder attracted interest from England last summer but rejected a move to Chelsea FC and recently renewed his contract until 2031.
However, interest from abroad has not faded. According to reports from El Chiringuito, Manchester United are prepared to offer up to €100 million for López during the summer transfer window.
Despite this, it is said that neither the player nor Barcelona are interested in such a move at this stage and would not welcome an offer.

There is also a sense that the summer could be a busy one for Barcelona, with the club having announced that it expects to return within salary limits for the first time in four years.
This would give sporting director Deco greater flexibility to operate in the transfer market.
In this context, the club could be open to listening to offers for players such as Jules Koundé and Alejandro Balde, both of whom have been regular starters over the past three seasons.
Meanwhile, López appears to have cemented his place in the starting lineup, and for now, the club aims to keep him—something that could raise doubts about the future of Dani Olmo.
