Manchester United are expected to offer Michael Carrick the opportunity to continue as permanent head coach after the former midfielder guided the club to qualification for next season’s UEFA Champions League.
According to The Guardian, Carrick has not yet held formal talks to turn his interim role into a long-term appointment.
This is because the club’s leadership had initially planned to wait and assess whether he would achieve the main objective—securing a place in Europe’s elite competition. That goal has now been accomplished following a 3–2 victory over Liverpool FC, a result that guaranteed United a place in the top five. Since taking charge in January, Carrick has recorded 10 wins and two draws in 14 Premier League matches.
It is reported that the club’s sporting director, Jason Wilcox, and chief executive, Omar Berrada, are satisfied with his impact since replacing Ruben Amorim, while Carrick also enjoys strong support from within the squad.
