Lionel Messi continues to amaze with his performances, regardless of his age.
The Argentine superstar was the main protagonist in Inter Miami’s 2-1 victory over the New England Revolution in the 2026 MLS season.
At the age of 39, Messi once again demonstrated his class, playing a direct role in turning the game around and scoring an extraordinary goal.
After Inter Miami fell behind, the Argentine captain first provided an assist for Germán Berterame, who scored the equaliser in the 69th minute.
However, the highlight of the match came in the 83rd minute, when Messi took matters into his own hands and produced a spectacular individual move.
Receiving the ball in the opposition’s half, the Argentine faced three New England players. With his trademark technique and speed, he managed to beat his opponents, even sending the ball through the legs of one of them.
Following a combination with a teammate, Messi positioned himself to shoot and calmly found the back of the net, sealing Inter Miami’s 2-1 victory.
The goal was the 937th of the eight-time Ballon d’Or winner’s professional career, adding yet another remarkable milestone to his extraordinary journey in football.
However, Messi himself does not appear to be particularly focused on his personal records.
Asked after the match about the number of goals he had scored, he said that he was not keeping track of that statistic.
“Wow, really? No, I’m not keeping track of anything. I always say that these records don’t interest me very much. I just want to enjoy the games,” Messi stated.
Once again, the Argentine superstar showed that he remains a decisive figure for Inter Miami, proving that his magic on the football pitch knows no age.
