Xabi Alonso Plans the Departure of Five Liverpool Stars If He Takes Charge of the Club

Xabi Alonso could bring major changes to Liverpool if he is appointed as the club’s new head coach, with the Spaniard reportedly ready to sacrifice several big names in order to rebuild the squad according to his vision.

According to a report from Fichajes, Alonso has identified five Liverpool players who would be made available for sale in the near future, allowing the club to generate funds for significant signings during the summer transfer window.

In defense, Alonso is said to be willing to allow the departure of Ibrahima Konaté, who would become a free agent upon the expiration of his contract this summer. The Frenchman has faced considerable criticism during the current season, despite previously being linked with clubs such as Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain.

The biggest surprise is expected to come in midfield. Alonso is reportedly prepared to part ways with Alexis Mac Allister and Ryan Gravenberch, both of whom are under contract until 2028. While the pair have struggled to find their best form this season, their potential exits would be unexpected given the key roles they played last season, when Liverpool won the title.

In attack, Cody Gakpo is another name who could leave if Alonso takes over. This decision is expected to be welcomed by a section of the fanbase, who have expressed dissatisfaction with the Dutchman’s continued inclusion despite unconvincing performances.

Meanwhile, the most high-profile departure could be Mohamed Salah. The Liverpool legend is reportedly considering the possibility of ending his nine-year spell at Anfield, and Alonso is said to be open to selling the Egyptian forward.

As an ideal replacement for the 33-year-old, Michael Olise has been mentioned as a target on the club’s radar.

If these developments materialize, Liverpool could face a major squad overhaul, signaling the beginning of a new era under the potential leadership of Xabi Alonso.
