Is Salah leaving Liverpool? An astronomical offer is being prepared

Liverpool are preparing for the possible departure of Mohamed Salah after reports emerged that Saudi Arabian club Al-Ittihad are planning to make an astronomical offer for the Egyptian star.

According to TeamTalk, Karim Benzema’s move from Al-Ittihad to Al-Hilal on the final day of the transfer window has placed Salah at the top of the Saudi club’s wishlist, which could leave Liverpool owners FSG facing a difficult decision.

Salah’s future at Anfield has been under question since a public dispute with head coach Arne Slot, which saw the Egyptian benched for three consecutive matches at the beginning of December. Although both parties are said to have resolved their differences, doubts remain over his long-term status. Another cause for concern is his dip in form, as Salah has scored only one goal for the Reds since November 1 last year.

Reports from Saudi Arabia claim that Al-Ittihad have been monitoring Salah closely and are now ready to test Liverpool with an offer that would give the owners a serious reason to consider a sale.

With Salah entering the final year of his contract this summer and set to turn 34 in July, the temptation to cash in on one of the Premier League’s finest players could prove too strong, according to the English outlet.

The potential departure of the Egyptian star this summer has divided opinion in the media. Renowned journalist David Ornstein claims that the owners’ intention has always been to keep Salah until the end of his contract in the summer of 2027, when he would leave as a free agent. However, he recently admitted that this plan could change.

“Despite the recent uncertainty, the Egyptian forward is expected to remain at Anfield until the end of the season. There is hope that the situation will calm down by then and that he will see out his contract until it expires in June 2027. However, if the problems persist, an earlier departure could be considered,” Ornstein wrote.
