Real Madrid right-back Trent Alexander-Arnold has been left out of the final squad of the England national football team by coach Thomas Tuchel ahead of the World Cup to be held in the USA, Mexico, and Canada. The former Liverpool FC player has struggled with injuries this season, but had recently regained form and a starting spot under Álvaro Arbeloa.
For the first time this season, both Alexander-Arnold and Dani Carvajal have been available for a longer period. Carvajal has mostly remained on the bench, while the Englishman has started the majority of matches, but that has not been enough to earn him a recall to the national team. Tuchel has preferred Newcastle United’s Tino Livramento and Tottenham Hotspur’s Djed Spence.
Meanwhile, despite not having played since early February, midfielder Jude Bellingham has been included in the squad. He is aiming to return this Sunday in the derby against Atlético Madrid, although it is still uncertain whether he will be fit to play.
