The coach of Atlético Madrid, Diego Simeone, shared his thoughts after the historic 2–0 away victory against FC Barcelona in the first leg of the UEFA Champions League quarterfinal.
Simeone feels happy with the big away win against Barcelona, describing it as a good result, while also being aware of the danger of a comeback in the return leg a week later at the Metropolitano.
“We had never won before at Camp Nou. It is extremely difficult. They are probably the best team in Europe, along with Paris Saint-Germain and Bayern Munich,” Simeone initially said.
“Thanks to our teamwork, we managed to hurt them at the right moment. The second goal gave us confidence – it’s a pity we couldn’t take even greater advantage of it.”
