José Mourinho is looking to make major changes at Real Madrid after several disappointing seasons at the Bernabéu. Although he has not yet been officially appointed as the club’s new manager, he has already started influencing transfer plans. He has reportedly set his sights on Rodri Hernández of Manchester City, while one of his former players could also join him in the Spanish capital.
Mourinho wants significant control over Real Madrid’s summer transfer strategy as he aims to restore the club to the top of world football. Problems in the dressing room need to be resolved, and several new signings are expected to bring fresh energy to the squad, with Marcus Rashford emerging as one of the possible targets.
Mourinho highly values Rashford after their time together at Manchester United, and according to reports from The Independent (via Sport), he has placed the English forward currently on loan at Barcelona — on his wishlist for the summer transfer window.
Rashford could become available this summer if Barcelona fail to reach a new agreement with Manchester United. The English club has already made it clear to the Catalans that another loan deal will not be accepted, and if a permanent transfer cannot be completed, then Real Madrid could enter the race to sign him.
However, the most likely outcome is that Rashford will remain at Barcelona in one way or another. Hansi Flick has reportedly informed sporting director Deco that he counts on the English international for next season, which is why the Catalan club will continue trying to reach an agreement with Manchester United in the coming weeks and months.
It would undoubtedly be a huge story if Rashford ended up at Real Madrid, as he would provide excellent competition and cover for Vinícius Júnior. However, for now, such a transfer appears highly unlikely.
