Former Germany midfielder Toni Kroos believes that the national team currently does not have a single world-class player.
Germany suffered a shocking defeat to Paraguay, resulting in their elimination from the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Following widespread criticism of the German team, Kroos came to their defense, arguing that such criticism is unfair because Germany simply lacks world-class players capable of making the difference.
“We (Germany) don’t have a single world-class player. We have to be honest about the current situation.”
“When we had successful tournaments in the past, I always felt that we could raise our level even further.”
“This team is no longer capable of doing that. We simply think we’re better than Paraguay and that we’ll somehow win,” he said.
Meanwhile, Germany are now facing uncertainty over the future of head coach Julian Nagelsmann, with Jürgen Klopp reportedly willing to take over should the German Football Association decide to make a change.
