Barcelona offered €100 million for Julián Alvarez during the summer transfer window, sporting director Deco has revealed.
The amount would have been paid in installments over three years, but Atlético Madrid refused to negotiate the Argentine striker’s departure.
Deco also clarified that Barcelona did not ask Alvarez to publicly express his desire to leave. The Catalan club had been working on his transfer since May, but ultimately had to bring in Gabriel Jesus and Karim Adeyemi instead, while Alvarez remained at Atlético, where he is under contract until 2030.
