The long-term injury of Jamal Musiala has led Bayern Munich to discover a new star: seventeen-year-old Lennart Karl.
With Musiala unavailable and the departures of Thomas Müller and Leroy Sané, the team was forced to look for replacements within its own academy, where Karl had already shown his talent, earning a regular place in the Bavarian club’s starting lineup.
Since his debut against Club Brugge and Borussia Mönchengladbach, Karl has become Bayern’s youngest goalscorer in the Champions League and the third-youngest in the Bundesliga. Just one year after playing for the U19 team, he is already considered a candidate for inclusion in Germany’s squad for the 2026 World Cup.
Bayern Munich CEO Jan-Christian Dreesen commented on this development, emphasizing that Karl’s emergence shows the academy’s ability to produce players with great potential.
“Competition always helps improve overall performance. Lennart Karl has done an excellent job, and we are very happy that Musiala is returning to training. This shows that the path we are following is the right one and creates new opportunities for young talents,” he said.
