Allegri Says Inter Are the Clear Favourites for the Serie A Title

AC Milan head coach Massimiliano Allegri has stated that Christian Pulisic is a doubt for tomorrow’s Serie A match against Como, while Inter remain the “clear favourites” to win the title.

Milan will host Como at San Siro in a rescheduled Matchday 24 fixture, which was not played earlier due to the opening ceremony of the Winter Olympic Games being held at the Stadio Meazza.

Santiago Giménez is injured and Adrien Rabiot is suspended, while Pulisic is also not fully fit.

“Apart from Rabiot, who is suspended, the others are feeling well. Alexis Saelemaekers is available and I hope Pulisic will be too, as he is still feeling some discomfort. We’ll see if he’s ready. Giménez will be back soon,” Allegri said.

Asked about Rabiot’s replacement, he added that Ardon Jashari is feeling good and that a decision will be made soon.

Milan can also rely on Luka Modrić in midfield: “Luka’s secret is his passion and great love for football. He apologises and gets angry with himself when he misplaces a pass. The calmness with which he approaches training sessions and matches is an example for everyone.”

Neither Rafael Leão nor Pulisic started in the last two league matches, but Allegri said Leão is doing well after a strong training session and expects both players to be very important in the final part of the season.

Allegri also had only positive words for Como coach Cesc Fàbregas: “They are doing an excellent job and are in the race for the Champions League.”

Regarding the title race, Allegri concluded: “Inter were the clear favourites for the title along with Napoli, and now even more so. There are many matches left and anything can happen. We need to stay calm and focus only on what happens on the pitch.”
