Jose Mourinho has made a statement that is expected to further fuel the rivalry ahead of El Clásico, speaking about Barcelona star Lamine Yamal.
Asked whether he would sign Yamal for Real Madrid, the Portuguese manager gave a firm response. Mourinho acknowledged the extraordinary talent of the 19-year-old, but said he would not sacrifice any of his current players to make room for him.
“No. Without a doubt, he is a great player, a young player with enormous room for improvement. But we have a top-level squad, and I wouldn’t make room for anyone.”
Mourinho went even further, expressing his utmost confidence in the players currently at his disposal:
“My players are the best.”
The ‘Special One’s’ statement comes at a time when the rivalry between Real Madrid and Barcelona is once again attracting maximum attention, while Yamal remains one of the leading figures of the new generation of Spanish football.
