Barcelona are intensifying their efforts to sign Julián Álvarez, with the Catalan club aiming to make the Atlético Madrid striker their main target for the attacking department during the summer transfer window.
Transfer expert Matteo Moretto has revealed that Barça’s management are prepared to make a serious move for the Argentine in the coming weeks.
“Barcelona want him to be Plan A for the attack. The club plans to contact Atlético and the player’s agent. Atlético are demanding more than €100 million, while Barça are considering the possibility of including several players in the deal to reduce the transfer cost,” Moretto stated.
According to him, Álvarez is happy in Madrid and has adapted very well at Atlético, but Barcelona’s interest remains concrete and strong.
Moretto also added that João Pedro is another alternative being monitored by the Catalans for the attacking line, although the main priority continues to be Álvarez.
Earlier reports from the same journalist suggest that the Argentine striker would consider FC Barcelona as his preferred destination if he decides to leave Atlético Madrid.
