Arsenal Close to Finalising New Contract for Declan Rice

Arsenal are in the final stages of negotiations over a new contract for midfielder Declan Rice.

The news was reported by renowned transfer journalist Fabrizio Romano, who says both parties are making significant progress towards reaching a long-term agreement.

Talks over a new deal for the England international began in March 2026 and, according to the latest reports, have now reached a decisive stage. The North London club are keen to keep Rice at the Emirates Stadium for many years, viewing him as one of the most important players in manager Mikel Arteta’s project.

“Arsenal are making very good progress in their efforts to keep one of their key players, Declan Rice, at the club for the long term. An agreement between Arsenal and Rice over a new contract is approaching the final stages,” Romano reported.

Rice signed his current contract in July 2023 after joining Arsenal from West Ham United. His existing deal runs until 2028, with the club holding an option to extend it by a further year, until 2029.

However, Arsenal want to secure the midfielder’s long-term future with improved terms and a new contract. According to reports, his current salary of around £240,000 per week could rise to approximately £350,000 per week if an agreement is reached.

A new deal would further cement Rice’s position as one of the central figures in Arsenal’s long-term plans, as the club continues its efforts to retain the core of its squad. In recent months, other key players, including Bukayo Saka and William Saliba, have also signed new contracts.

For Arsenal, extending Rice’s stay would represent a significant step towards maintaining stability and strengthening their ambitions to compete for major trophies both in England and across Europe.
