Colombian football legend Carlos Valderrama has stunned the football world with a dramatic change in his appearance.
The 65-year-old former midfielder, known worldwide for his voluminous blonde hair, has decided to shave it off after more than half a century.
Valderrama shared a video on social media showing him alongside his wife, Elvira Redondo, who takes a pair of scissors and shaves his head completely.
“My people! Today is the day,” he wrote, without offering any explanation for his unexpected decision.
His new look has left fans astonished, with some even questioning whether the video might have been created using artificial intelligence.
Known by the nickname “El Pibe,” Valderrama was one of the most iconic figures in Colombian football during the 1990s. His distinctive curly hair became the most recognisable symbol of his identity.
In fact, ahead of the 1994 FIFA World Cup, he reportedly turned down an offer worth $2 million to cut his hair.
This time, however, the Colombian legend has decided to change the look that accompanied him for decades.
Among those who reacted was former Colombian goalkeeper René Higuita, who congratulated him on his new appearance, saying: “It suits you, man!”
