Dimarco Wanted by Barcelona as Contract Renewal Talks with Inter Stall

Barcelona are targeting a move for Federico Dimarco for next season, according to reports in Spain, following his Serie A “Player of the Season” award and delays in renewing his contract with Inter.

The 28-year-old Italy international rediscovered his consistency last season under new manager Cristian Chivu, contributing eight goals and 18 assists in 47 appearances across all competitions. That was enough for him to win the Serie A “Player of the Season” award this week, once again confirming his status as one of the key players in the squad.

According to Spanish newspaper Sport, Barcelona have placed Dimarco on their wish list, and he could be open to a potential move next summer.

It is true that his current contract with Inter expires in June 2027, but it already includes an option to extend the deal for another year.

He is also a lifelong Nerazzurri fan, meaning it would take something spectacular to convince him to leave San Siro.

“I’m happy to be linked with these big clubs, but you know my history with Inter. I grew up here,” Dimarco told Sky Sport Italia. “As for the contract renewal, we haven’t spoken about it yet. I was hoping that would happen, considering how last season ended, but there will be time to discuss it soon,” he added.

Barcelona had already made approaches this summer for two Inter stars, Lautaro Martínez and Alessandro Bastoni, so it is clear that the Catalan club are keeping a close eye on the Nerazzurri and the development of their players.
