Paris Saint-Germain manager Luis Enrique has praised his team’s performance following their 4-2 victory over Barcelona in the Champions League, describing the encounter as a high-level contest in which both sides showcased attacking football.
PSG secured victory at the Parc des Princes in a high-tempo encounter featuring numerous scoring opportunities. The Parisian side managed to claim all three points despite physical problems that forced several of their key players to leave the pitch early.
Ousmane Dembele, Khvicha Kvaratskhelia and Marquinhos were all substituted due to physical discomfort, but this did not prevent the reigning European champions from maintaining their advantage and collecting all three points.
Speaking after the match, Luis Enrique expressed his satisfaction with the performance of both teams, highlighting the quality of the football and the character shown by his side.
“I believe we saw two teams playing outstanding football, with a very attacking approach. We demonstrated our quality. It was a highly competitive match,” the Spanish manager said.
The PSG boss admitted that facing Barcelona had not been easy, particularly given the quality of their opponents and the difficulty of controlling the game throughout the encounter.
“It was difficult to maintain control of the game. It is just three more points, but it is always positive to beat a team of such quality. The players who came off the bench were outstanding and gave us a huge boost. We are very happy,” he emphasised.
The victory over Barcelona represents an important result for PSG in the Champions League, while Luis Enrique can be pleased with his team’s response, particularly in a match in which injuries created additional challenges during the game.
Barcelona, meanwhile, suffered their first defeat of the season in a contest that highlighted the attacking potential of both sides. PSG will now continue their European campaign with the aim of defending the title they won last season.
