Hollywood actor Adrien Brody was spotted on the New York City subway on Monday, trying to go unnoticed while traveling with friends.
The two-time Oscar winner and New York resident Adrien Brody looked like any other passenger as he stood to the side during the journey.
For his subway outing, Brody opted for an all-black outfit consisting of a baseball cap, T-shirt, trousers, and sneakers.
Fans have spotted him around New York in recent months, following his Broadway debut this year as Nick Yarris, a real-life prisoner sentenced to death, in The Fear of 13. The play premiered on April 15, with its final performance taking place on June 28.
Although his Broadway run has come to an end, Brody still divides his time between New York City and his historic Stone Barns residence in upstate New York, where he lives with his partner, Georgina Chapman.
The actor was born in Woodhaven, Queens, and grew up in Jackson Heights. Last year, he spoke about his experience of attending drama school.
“I grew up in New York. I grew up in Queens. I took the train all the time. I had to travel a long way to get to drama school. I was accepted into the Performing Arts Department at a public college, but it gave me a wonderful foundation from the very beginning,” he said.
Brody attended LaGuardia High School of Music & Art and Performing Arts on Manhattan’s Upper West Side, which has also been attended by many famous actors, musicians, and artists, including Timothée Chalamet, Jennifer Aniston, and Al Pacino.
In 2009, Brody said that his experience riding the New York subway may have had a greater influence on shaping him as an actor than his formal education.
“I feel like my real education in acting came from going to school and coming back on four different trains in each direction, because of the sheer number of human beings I encountered, from homeless people to immigrant workers and businessmen,” he once said.
