English football legend Alan Shearer hopes Michael Carrick’s time as Manchester United manager is not over, despite the team’s disappointing results.
Meanwhile, the club’s hierarchy are reportedly beginning to consider alternatives for the Red Devils’ managerial position.
Manchester United are going through a difficult period, with manager Michael Carrick coming under increasing pressure.
According to reports, Sunday’s match against Bournemouth could prove decisive for his future at Old Trafford.
Among the names being mentioned as potential candidates to take charge of the team are Eddie Howe, Julian Nagelsmann and Antonio Conte. However, no official decision has been made regarding Carrick’s future so far.
Former Newcastle United and England striker Alan Shearer has voiced his support for the manager, stressing that Manchester United’s problems cannot be attributed solely to the person in charge of the team on the touchline.
“I hope this is not the end for Michael Carrick at Manchester United, but, of course, the results are a cause for concern,” Shearer told Betfair.
He pointed out that frequent managerial changes have failed to resolve the club’s crisis, questioning the way Manchester United operates as a whole.
“Manchester United keep going from one manager to another, searching for a solution. The club’s problems are significant, and what happens at boardroom level is reflected on the pitch,” the former England international explained.
According to Shearer, one of the club’s main problems is also related to its transfer policy. He believes Manchester United have not always managed to secure their primary targets during transfer windows, while the squad has lacked some important reinforcements.
“I hope he doesn’t lose his job, but I wouldn’t be surprised if it happened. What is happening at this club is unbelievable, and they keep thinking the manager is to blame. But that is not the case,” Shearer added.
According to reports, Manchester United have failed to win any of their last seven matches in all competitions, increasing the pressure ahead of their clash with Bournemouth.
This situation has once again brought the English club’s ongoing problems into focus. Despite its prestigious name and rich history, Manchester United continue to search for stability and consistent results.
