The Finalissima scheduled for March 27 between the Euro 2024 winners, Spain, and the Copa América winners, Argentina, is at risk of not being played.
According to the media outlet COPE, the highly anticipated Finalissima between Spain and Argentina could be cancelled this month.
Talks have continued about changing the venue of the match from Doha, Qatar, to Real Madrid’s Santiago Bernabéu Stadium due to the ongoing conflict in the Middle East.
Despite the RFEF (Royal Spanish Football Federation) reaching an agreement with Madrid to host the match at the Bernabéu, Argentina has hesitated to give the green light to play at the iconic stadium.
Meanwhile, there is still no agreement between the RFEF and the AFA (Argentine Football Association).
Spain believes that the 2022 World Cup winners do not want to play the Finalissima at the Bernabéu.
Otherwise, Argentina are the current holders of the Finalissima, having defeated Italy 3–0 in 2022.
