Xabi Alonso is ready to become Liverpool manager, but only if the club meets his demands during the summer transfer window, Spanish media report.
Current coach Arne Slot is under pressure after poor results, including a home draw against Tottenham, leaving fans frustrated.
Alonso, previously considered as a Klopp replacement, wants guarantees for the sporting project and has requested three key signings:
- Alessandro Bastoni (Inter) – long-term replacement for captain Virgil van Dijk.
- Adam Wharton (Crystal Palace) – to partner with Ryan Gravenberch in midfield.
- Bradley Barcola (PSG) – needed to boost the attack.
Liverpool have struggled this season, with defensive instability, midfield inconsistency, and a drop in Mohamed Salah’s form. Departures like Luis Díaz and underwhelming performances from Cody Gakpo have weakened the team.
Alonso is willing to take charge only if the club fulfills these conditions. A final decision is expected in the coming weeks on whether to continue with Slot or start a new era under Alonso.
