Robert Lewandowski has announced through his social media accounts that he will leave FC Barcelona at the end of the season.
The current contract of the Polish international with the Catalan club was expected to expire on June 30, and although the club was open to extending it for another year, the veteran striker has decided to move on and close this chapter of his career.
Posting on Instagram, Lewandowski shared an emotional video featuring some of his best memories with Barcelona.
“After four years full of challenges and hard work, the time has come for me to move forward. I leave with the feeling that the mission has been accomplished. 4 seasons, 3 league titles.”
“I will never forget the love I received from the fans from my very first days. Catalonia is my place on Earth. Thank you to everyone I met during these four beautiful years.”
“A special thanks to president Joan Laporta, who gave me the opportunity to experience the most extraordinary chapter of my career.”
With this now-confirmed departure, Lewandowski brings an end to a four-year adventure at Barcelona, where he arrived from Bayern Munich in the summer of 2022.
During this period, he won three La Liga titles, one Copa del Rey, and three Spanish Super Cups.
He will say goodbye to the fans tomorrow (Sunday) against Real Betis in what will be Barcelona’s final home match of the season.
