Switzerland captain Granit Xhaka has once again demonstrated why he is regarded as one of the most reliable midfielders in European football.
He is known not only for his outstanding performances on the pitch but also for his impressive statistics, which place him among the most creative players at the World Cup.
According to statistics published by the International Centre for Sports Studies (CIES), 30.4% of Xhaka’s passes during the group stage were completed in the opposition’s half, highlighting his crucial role in building Switzerland’s attacking play.
The Albanian midfielder’s performances have also earned praise from the German magazine Kicker, which described these numbers as highly impressive, reports Klankosova.tv.
In this ranking, only two midfielders recorded a higher percentage than Xhaka. Martin Ødegaard of Norway tops the list with 35.7% of his passes played into attacking areas, while Australia’s Aiden O’Neill ranks second with 34%.
By securing third place in this statistic, Granit Xhaka once again underlines his importance to the Swiss national team and continues to prove that he remains one of the most complete and influential midfielders in international football.
