Liverpool have suffered a major blow after their main striker, Alexander Isak, was injured while on international duty with Sweden during the UEFA Nations League matches.
The Merseyside club has announced that Isak has returned from international duty due to a minor injury.
“The striker will not take part in Sweden’s remaining three matches during this international break and will now undergo an assessment by the club’s medical staff at the AXA Training Centre,” the club said in a statement.
It is not yet known whether Isak will miss the important match Liverpool are scheduled to play against Manchester City on Sunday, October 11.
If Isak is unavailable, Liverpool could face serious problems in attack, as their other striker, Hugo Ekitike, is also injured and is not expected to return until the second half of the season.
