Alexis Mac Allister has not hidden his disappointment with the contractual situation at Liverpool, as the English club has yet to offer him a new deal.
The Argentine midfielder, whose contract with the “Reds” runs until June 2028, admitted that being told he is not currently in line for an immediate contract extension has affected him.
“As everyone knows, I received the news that the club was not in a position to offer me a new contract, and that makes me very, very sad,” Mac Allister said.
The Argentine stressed that he continues to give his all for Liverpool despite the situation.
“Everyone can see that I give 100 percent for this club, every day in training and in matches. Of course, I can have very good games or very bad games, like everyone else. But I always give my best,” he added.
Mac Allister also revealed that the contract extensions signed by Dominik Szoboszlai and Ryan Gravenberch made him happy, but at the same time increased his personal disappointment.
“I see Dominik and Ryan renewing their contracts, and that makes me very happy because they deserve it, but at the same time it makes me a little sad that I didn’t get mine,” the midfielder said.
Since joining Liverpool, Mac Allister has made 105 Premier League appearances, scoring 12 goals and providing 14 assists. Across all competitions, he has recorded 21 goals and 23 assists in 152 appearances.
His contribution is not limited to the attacking phase. The Argentine has registered 610 ball recoveries and participated in 1,345 individual duels, while also contesting 196 aerial duels.
Of the 334 tackles he has attempted, Mac Allister has won 185, while he has also recorded 103 interceptions and 119 clearances.
The midfielder has recovered possession 328 times in midfield and has created 182 chances for his teammates during his time at Liverpool. His passing accuracy has never dropped below 82.35 percent.
Despite the change in Liverpool’s dugout and the arrival of Andoni Iraola, Mac Allister continues to be an important part of the squad.
However, if the club does not change its stance and fails to offer him a new contract, his future at Anfield could become one of the key storylines to follow throughout the season.
Mac Allister has never hidden his strong connection with Liverpool, meaning the current contractual situation remains an issue that could have an impact on his future at the English giants.
