Fabian Ruiz has set a major target for Paris Saint-Germain this season, with the Spanish star aiming for the reigning European champions to win the Champions League for the third consecutive time.
In an interview with The Athletic, the PSG midfielder confirmed that the Parisian side wants to make history and match a record achieved by Real Madrid.
“We hope that this year we can compete again to win the Champions League for the third time.”
“Real Madrid are the only team to have done this in the Champions League era.
“That is our main objective this year – to be there, to fight and try to achieve something historic,” he said.
PSG have made a convincing start to their European title defence, demolishing Slovan Bratislava 6-1 at home.
Luis Enrique’s side are therefore aiming to become only the second team in the Champions League era to win the trophy three times in a row.
Real Madrid are the only club to have achieved this in the modern era of the competition, winning three consecutive editions between 2016 and 2018.
PSG now want to replicate that achievement and further cement their dominance in Europe following their back-to-back triumphs.
