France head coach Zinedine Zidane has hailed Lionel Messi as the best player in the world and said he would give him the Ballon d’Or again this year.
Zidane, a former Real Madrid legend both as a player and a coach, also said he would vote for Messi 100 times if he could, arguing that the Argentine is still performing at the highest level at the age of 39.
“I would vote for him 100 times. People don’t realize how incredible it is that Messi is still among the best players in the world at 39. I wouldn’t be surprised if Messi won the Ballon d’Or,” Zidane initially said.
“If there is anyone who doesn’t understand who the greatest player of all time is, it is people who don’t understand football,” the France coach concluded.
