Esteban Andrada banned for 13 matches after punching an opponent

The Real Zaragoza goalkeeper, Esteban Andrada, has been handed a 13-match suspension by the Spanish Football Federation after punching an opposing player during the derby against SD Huesca.

According to the decision of the disciplinary committee, Andrada was initially sent off with a red card and then attacked defender Jorge Pulido in stoppage time of Sunday’s match.

The Argentine goalkeeper received a 12-match ban for the punch, while the red card automatically added another one-match suspension. This means his season is effectively over, and Zaragoza lose an important player in their battle for survival.

The 35-year-old is on loan from the Mexican club CF Monterrey.

After the match, he publicly apologized for his behavior.

“I am very, very sorry for what happened. It is not a good image for the club, the fans, and especially for a professional like me,” Andrada said.

Other players were also involved in the incident. Huesca goalkeeper Dani Jiménez was banned for four matches, while Zaragoza player Dani Tasende received a two-match suspension.

The match ended with a 1–0 victory for Huesca.
