Bradley Barcola will make his Liverpool debut against Ipswich Town on Friday, with manager Andoni Iraola also attempting to clarify Cody Gakpo’s future amid recent transfer speculation.
Barcola completed his €140 million transfer from Paris Saint-Germain on Monday, and his debut is expected to come this week.
“We are very happy with Bradley. It was our priority to sign a very, very good player in those positions… if everything goes well in training today, he will definitely be available for us tomorrow,” Iraola said at Thursday’s press conference.
Gakpo, who came close to joining Manchester City before the deal fell through, has started both league matches this season, scoring against Newcastle United and providing an assist against Nottingham Forest.
“My relationship with Cody has been very honest from the beginning… he is in a good physical and mental condition, and I am very happy that I chose him,” the Reds manager added.
Iraola also confirmed that he wants his wide players to feel comfortable on both flanks, with Barcola capable of playing on either the left or the right.
