World-renowned Albanian singer Rita Ora has recently shared some more personal details about her life, speaking about beliefs, energy, and the Albanian traditions she grew up with in her family.
In an interview with The New York Times, the artist revealed that she almost always carries a special crystal necklace with her, which she considers an object that brings her calm and helps her maintain balance amid the intense pace of her career.
The necklace was a gift for her 34th birthday from one of her closest friends and, according to Rita, was specially made for her. The crystals were selected based on the symbolism and energy that each one is believed to represent.
“It’s a kind of object that helps me release stress and maintain my energy. In this industry, it’s very easy to lose your balance, so this helps me stay focused,” the singer said.
The necklace contains several types of crystals, including citrine, smoky quartz, green amethyst, and clear quartz. Rita says they are associated with positive energy, calmness, focus, and personal intentions.
Although she admits that she cannot scientifically explain the effects of crystals, the artist says she believes in the energy they carry.
“I wear it whenever I can. I change my outfits often, so if it doesn’t match what I’m wearing, I keep it in my bag. It’s always with me,” she revealed.
“I Grew Up With Albanian Superstitions”
The most interesting part of her story is connected to her family memories and Albanian traditions.
Rita Ora admitted that she is superstitious and that many of these beliefs were passed down to her through the Albanian family environment in which she was raised.
“Yes, I am superstitious. I think that we Eastern Europeans, especially me coming from an Albanian family, grew up with superstitions,” she explained.
The artist particularly remembered her grandmother and the rituals she used to practice.
“My grandmother would always perform rituals under the full moon and read the coffee cup turned upside down, as if it were a map of the future,” Rita recalled.
Despite living a life surrounded by international stages, fashion, and the global music industry, her story shows that some of the memories of her family and Albanian traditions continue to stay with her to this day.
