Dani Carvajal may no longer play for Real Madrid

Real Madrid captain Dani Carvajal may have already played his final match for the club after suffering an injury that could keep him sidelined until the end of the season. The 34-year-old is out of contract this summer, and his future remains uncertain.

The veteran right-back picked up a knock to his foot during training on Friday, and on Saturday morning the club confirmed he has a “fracture” in one of his toes. According to reports from Marca, the injury will keep him out for around two weeks, putting his final appearances of the season at risk.

This means he will miss this weekend’s clash against Espanyol, as well as what could be the final “El Clásico” of his career against FC Barcelona next week. He is also expected to be absent for the home match against Real Oviedo and possibly the away fixture against Sevilla FC. His recovery timeline places him on the edge of returning for the match at Ramón Sánchez Pizjuán Stadium, while he is expected to be fit for the final game of the season against Athletic Club at Santiago Bernabéu Stadium.

This injury has effectively ended Carvajal’s hopes of being part of Spain’s squad for the World Cup this summer. Head coach Luis de la Fuente had reportedly asked him to demonstrate strong physical form during the final two months of the season in order to be considered for selection. However, he has struggled to secure his place ahead of Trent Alexander-Arnold, and this latest setback further limits his chances.

It could also mark a disappointing end to his career at Real Madrid. With his contract expiring this summer and no signs of a renewal—after three injury-hit seasons—Carvajal risks bringing a glorious career at the Santiago Bernabéu to a bitter close.
