Liverpool have begun preparing for the possible departure of Alexis Mac Allister next summer, as Real Madrid’s interest in the Argentine midfielder has prompted the English club’s hierarchy to explore alternatives in the transfer market.
According to reports, head coach Andoni Iraola has identified three potential candidates to strengthen the midfield, where Dominik Szoboszlai and Ryan Gravenberch also currently play.
The players in question are Monaco’s Lamine Camara, Bournemouth’s Alex Scott and Borussia Dortmund’s Felix Nmecha. All three have different attributes that could suit the Spanish coach’s system.
Liverpool’s hierarchy are drawing up a contingency plan, taking into account Real Madrid’s continued interest in Mac Allister, who is considered one of the Spanish giants’ targets for the summer of 2027.
Lamine Camara and Alex Scott are at the top of the English club’s shortlist. Both midfielders are highly regarded for their physical abilities, ability to dictate play and potential for further development.
However, a move for Scott could prove more complicated, as Chelsea have stepped up their efforts to secure the services of the 23-year-old Englishman.
Liverpool are looking for a midfielder who can provide stability, pressing intensity and creativity in build-up play — qualities that Iraola considers important for improving the team’s performances.
Meanwhile, Felix Nmecha remains another option being monitored by the English club’s hierarchy.
According to journalist Florian Plettenberg, Liverpool have been impressed by the German midfielder’s performances for Borussia Dortmund, although he is not considered a priority at this stage.
The Anfield club’s strategy is to invest primarily in young players, with Lamine Camara viewed as one of the candidates best suited to their long-term project.
During November and December, Liverpool representatives are expected to intensify their scouting of the three midfielders before making a final decision on their primary target.
Should Real Madrid turn their interest into concrete action and submit an offer for Mac Allister at the end of the season, Liverpool intend to be ready to act immediately in the transfer market, Telegrafi reports.
For now, the Argentine’s departure remains only a possibility, but the English club’s hierarchy do not want to risk being left without a worthy replacement for one of the team’s most important players.
