Manchester United has identified Aurélien Tchouaméni as one of its main targets to replace Casemiro in midfield.
It has long been known that United’s priority this summer is to rebuild the midfield, and according to The Telegraph, the French international is being considered as a possible successor to Casemiro, who is expected to leave when his contract expires in the summer.
However, his future at Real Madrid could depend on the situation of Rodri at Manchester City.
Rodri, whose contract expires at the end of next season, raised doubts about his future last month by saying that “you can’t refuse the best clubs in the world” when asked about a possible move to Real Madrid.
Nevertheless, manager Pep Guardiola has stated that the Spanish midfielder is expected to renew his contract, although he would not stand in the way if Madrid were to make an offer.
Tchouaméni is under contract until 2028, but reports from Spain suggest that Real Madrid is also open to listening to offers for his teammate and fellow international Eduardo Camavinga as an alternative way to generate revenue.
The 26-year-old, who has won the Champions League and La Liga during his time in Madrid, recently spoke about the difficulties he has faced at the Bernabéu.
“I became an easy scapegoat. In the first 10–20 minutes, the stadium would whistle at me every time I touched the ball. That situation either destroys you or makes you think, ‘this is it,’ and focus only on your performance,” he said.
According to the report, United is aiming to sign at least two midfielders this summer and could even pursue a third if Manuel Ugarte departs.
Meanwhile, both Manchester City and United are closely monitoring the development of Elliot Anderson, who currently plays for Nottingham Forest and is valued at around £100 million.
Since his move from Newcastle United in 2024, he has become one of the most promising young midfielders in the league.
Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur have also shown interest in Anderson, but a direct battle between City and United for his signature is expected.
Additionally, Adam Wharton has been linked with a potential move to United following his impressive performances with Crystal Palace.
