Diego Pablo Simeone spoke at a press conference about the highly anticipated Madrid derby between Atlético Madrid and Real Madrid.
The Atlético Madrid manager described it as a special week for the Spanish capital, following the Formula 1 races and a concert by renowned singer Shakira.
“I went to the Formula 1 races, then I attended a Shakira concert, and now we have the derby. It has been a great week,” Simeone said.
Asked about his counterpart at Real Madrid, José Mourinho, the Argentine coach emphasized the respect he has for the Portuguese manager.
“I have a lot of respect for Mourinho. He knows that very well, and I hope that tomorrow we will face each other as we always have, giving our maximum,” Simeone stated.
Simeone also spoke about the differences in the way the two teams play, highlighting Real Madrid’s transition game.
“Real Madrid’s transition is more vertical than ours and it is faster. We have to do everything we can to make sure they do not feel comfortable with their style of play. We have to slow down their transitions,” the Atlético Madrid manager emphasized.
